Program Counselor Sr.

Program Counselor assists students in the five day a week, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, REC, outpatient program in Knoxville, TN. Staff work with students in clarifying and achieving their recovery goals which may include returning to work, continuing their formal education or seeking volunteer work. Program counselors teach skill building courses which support the recovery needs of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Program counselors maintain weekly progress notes  in computer medical records, attend treatment team meetings and help foster a collaborative and supportive environment.. In addition it is expected that all program counselors support fellow staff members in delivering services and support to the students enrolled in the REC program. Requirements: Adequate Computer skills, 6mos. min behavioral health experience Peer support specialist training or peer qualified.

Program Counselor Sr.

Position in Peninsula’s Peer Support program requiring a peer qualified or peer certified individual to deliver support and education to members of the program. Staff provide activities via phone, virtual and in person settings which may include Wellness Recovery Action Plan training, healthy living as well as socialization activities to reduce isolation and inspire hope. Program counselors keep attendance and expense records for this program funded by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS). Staff provide transportation to some outings and must possess a Class F Driver’s license and be able to safely operate a 12 passenger van.
