Youth in Crisis: The Misdiagnosis and Labeling of Marginalized Youths in Schools

On November 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. ET, SAMHSA will sponsor a 90-minute TA Coalition webinar on behalf of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) titled “Youth in Crisis: The Misdiagnosis and Labeling of Marginalized Youths in Schools.” They write: “In this presentation, we will 1) discuss factors that contribute to the mental health crisis in youths, 2) explore the differences between a trauma response and serious emotional disturbance in marginalized youths, and 3) discuss what schools can do to mitigate the misdiagnosis and labeling of marginalized youth.” For more information and to register, click here.
