Finding a place to work where you feel a sense of belonging is essential for most people, including peer workers who may have a history of facing discrimination and exclusion throughout their journey. What happens once you find that place? You connect with other individuals that may or may not have a recovery story. It’s the interpersonal communication with each other that can lead to a healthy and productive environment. This training is designed to share practical strategies and perspectives to support a Peer Specialist to establish healthy boundaries, strengthen their soft skills, and identify proactive ways to engage with co-workers who don’t identify as people in recovery, as well as interact with peer staff that have different perspectives and opinions than oneself.
