Peer recovery services are becoming an integral part of the process for those seeking or already in recovery from substance use. There appears to be quite a bit of confusion as to what a peer recovery specialist (PRS), also called a recovery coach (RC), does exactly. This interactive presentation is meant to help provide some clarity around that topic.
Presenter: Randy Anderson, RCP-F, LADC, is a person living in long term recovery. What that means to him is: he hasn’t used drugs, alcohol, or any mood-altering substance since January 9, 2005. Anderson completed his Associate’s degree in Addiction Counseling and Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. He is designated by the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) as a Recovery Coach Professional – Facilitator (RCP-F). With that designation, Anderson can facilitate any CCAR curricula. As the founder of Bold North Recovery, he has been facilitating online and in-person trainings since 2019. Anderson has facilitated dozens of online and in-person trainings, including Narcan trainings in partnership with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Steve Rummler Hope Network, as well as online peer trainings as contracted by CCAR. During 2021, he helped train individuals in more than 500 cities, 40 states, and 7 countries.
